One saint we Marists try to emulate is Marcellin Champagnat. Marcellin received a gift from God which we share today. The reading chosen for our Marist Calendar for this feast explains this gift in these words: 'Open to any apostolate that is in harmony with its founding charism, the [Marist] Institute sees the direct proclamation of the Word of God as an essential element of its mission. Engaged in schools or in other forms of education, we put our heart and soul into serving the human person for the sake of the Kingdom' (Constitutions Article 85) .
