Being Together
Marist Brothers from the southern region of Australia gathered together at Brunswick on Friday 20th May, 2016 for one of two annual forums in 2016. Led by Br Neville Solomon, we began by discussing Mercy within the theme of 'The Theology of Mercy'. Our context was sharpened by the reminder that today there are 60 million displaced people in our world. This led us to the idea we consider replacing ladders of achievement with circles of relationship, reflecting Pope Francis' emphasis on the importance of trinitarian communion. We Marists have a Marian disposition, displaying Mary's virtues in interplay with each other. 'This interplay of justice and tenderness, of contemplation and concern for others, is what makes the ecclesial community look to Mary as a model of evangelisation' (EG288). In our second session, Provincial Br Peter Carroll introduced us to the vision of our recently established Marist Association. We Brothers have an opportunity to contribute to the Association, to show hospitality to members and to contribute ideas which will assist the Association nurture Marist life and mission across Australia.
